Yavarum Kelir didn't begin with an office or a registration certificate. It began in 2019 with a WhatsApp group — 20 to 30 people who simply refused to look away when someone needed help.

Over the years, that small group showed up quietly but consistently. During the Chennai floods, we coordinated relief and reached families who had nowhere to turn. Through the COVID-19 lockdown, we arranged essentials for those who fell through the cracks. We paid school fees for underprivileged students so their dreams wouldn't be interrupted by circumstance. We pooled funds for life-saving surgeries for people who couldn't afford care.

No fanfare. No press. Just people helping people — one message, one need, one act of kindness at a time.

In April 2026, after seven years of grassroots service, we took the next step and formally registered as an organisation. Yavarum Kelir is now a structured NPO — but our heart remains exactly what it was on day one: a community that believes every soul is our kin.
